Do small lung nodules require treatment?
Disease description:
I had a CT scan this week and found out that I have small nodules in my lungs. I would like to know whether lung nodules require treatment.

Whether pulmonary small nodules require treatment mainly depends on the nature and size of the nodule, as well as the patient's symptoms.
1. In general circumstances: pulmonary small nodules, especially those with a diameter less than 8 mm, are mostly benign lesions, possibly caused by tuberculosis, microbial infection, pulmonary tumors, or other reasons. These nodules usually do not present specific symptoms; therefore, special treatment generally is not required, although regular follow-up examinations are necessary.
2. In special circumstances: if pulmonary small nodules are accompanied by symptoms such as coughing, chest tightness, chest pain, fever, or weight loss, or if the nodule is gradually increasing in size, further investigation and treatment may be necessary. If the nodule is caused by inflammation, anti-inflammatory medications may be used for treatment; if diagnosed as a tumor, surgical removal will be required, possibly combined with comprehensive treatment methods such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
