Why does tinea cruris recur repeatedly?
Disease description:
I am 26 years old. Recently, my lower body has been slightly itchy, red, and flaky. I have already received treatment, but this issue has reoccurred recently. I would like to know why jock itch keeps recurring?

The main reasons for recurrent tinea cruris (jock itch) include:
1. Poor local hygiene: If patients neglect personal hygiene, such as failing to clean the affected area promptly or change undergarments regularly, fungi can easily proliferate in moist environments, leading to recurrence.
2. Climatic and environmental factors: Hot weather and locally warm, humid environments provide favorable conditions for fungal growth, increasing the risk of recurrence. Wearing tight clothing especially hinders sweat evaporation and exacerbates local moisture.
3. Incomplete treatment: If patients do not follow medical advice to complete the full course of antifungal therapy or discontinue medication prematurely, the fungi may not be completely eradicated, resulting in recurrence.
4. Transmission from other fungal infectious diseases: Patients suffering from severe tinea manus (hand fungus), tinea pedis (athlete's foot), or tinea corporis (ringworm of the body) may transfer fungi to the groin area through scratching or other hand contact, causing recurrence of tinea cruris.
