Whether pulmonary nodules can regress naturally depends on the nature and cause of the nodule. 1. Scenarios where natural regression is possible: Some pulmonary nodules caused by inflammation, fungal infection, or viral infection, especially ground-glass nodules, may resolve spontaneously after the inflammation subsides or the individual's immune system improves. For example, certain small inflammatory lesions may be absorbed and disappear following antibiotic treatment or enhanced immunity. 2. Scenarios where natural regression is unlikely: Most pulmonary nodules, particularly those that are stable in nature and have unchanged density and size over time, as well as benign nodules such as benign tumors, typically do not disappear on their own. Malignant pulmonary nodules, such as cancerous nodules indicative of early-stage lung cancer, will generally increase in size and may metastasize if not surgically removed; therefore, they do not regress naturally.
