What does it feel like when the water breaks?
Disease description:
I'm already in the late stage of pregnancy. My friend told me that it's very painful after the water breaks. I'd like to know what sensations to expect if my water breaks.
The breaking of the amniotic sac is an important sign during pregnancy, especially as the due date approaches. Pregnant women may feel a sudden, uncontrollable flow of warm fluid from the vagina. This fluid is usually clear or slightly pale yellow and in larger quantity, distinctly different from the slow leakage of urine or vaginal discharge. The rupture of amniotic membranes is often accompanied by a slight "popping" sound, followed by a continuous feeling of wetness, as if the internal reservoir of the body had suddenly opened its gates. Due to the reduction in amniotic fluid, some pregnant women might feel the fetal movements more distinctly or perceive changes in abdominal space directly. This process might also be accompanied by mild abdominal discomfort or intensified contractions, signaling that the baby's birth is imminent and that immediate preparation to go to the hospital for delivery is necessary. If in doubt, please consult a healthcare provider.
