Disease description:

I want to get the HPV vaccine. I heard the 9-valent one is better, but I've heard it needs to be administered before age 26. May I ask whether the 9-valent HPV vaccine must be completed before age 26?

The HPV 9-valent vaccine does not necessarily need to be completed before the age of 26, although it is generally recommended to receive the vaccine within this age range. The 9-valent vaccine is primarily indicated for females aged 9–45 years, an age range determined based on clinical trial data and overall vaccine effectiveness. Although females older than 26 years can still receive the 9-valent vaccine, the immune response may be reduced, as these individuals may have already been exposed to HPV. Therefore, for women older than 26 years who still wish to receive an HPV vaccine, the 2-valent or 4-valent vaccine may be considered.

The optimal age for receiving the HPV 9-valent vaccine is 9–45 years, but receiving it before age 26 is not a strict requirement. Women should choose the appropriate vaccine type and vaccination schedule based on their individual circumstances and under the guidance of a physician. Additionally, regardless of which type of HPV vaccine is administered, it cannot replace routine cervical cancer screening.
