I have noticed that the fetal movements have been quite frequent lately, and I'm worried about excessive fetal activity. How many movements per day would be considered excessive?

Under normal circumstances, fetal movements should occur between 3 to 5 times per hour, and the total number of fetal movements within 12 hours should be no less than 30. If the number of fetal movements exceeds 10 within one hour, or if the pregnant woman notices a sudden increase in fetal movements compared to the same period in recent days, even if the count hasn't reached 10 per hour, it may be considered excessive fetal movement. Frequent fetal movements can be a sign of fetal hypoxia (oxygen deficiency), and the pregnant woman should promptly pay attention and seek medical evaluation.

When determining whether fetal movements are excessive, multiple factors should be considered comprehensively. If there are any concerns, it is recommended to consult a healthcare provider promptly.
