Can shingles cause herpes on the lips?
Disease description:
I have had herpes zoster for two days, and today I noticed the appearance of blisters on my lips as well. Can herpes zoster cause blisters on the lips?

Herpes zoster can potentially cause lip herpes. Although herpes zoster and lip herpes (mainly caused by the herpes simplex virus) are not caused by the same virus, herpes zoster results from the varicella-zoster virus. After infecting the body, this virus can remain dormant within nerve cells and may reactivate under certain conditions, leading to herpes zoster. In some cases, if the virus spreads to the lip area, it may cause lip herpes. Therefore, herpes zoster patients may develop herpes on their lips; however, this is not a typical symptom of herpes zoster, and its occurrence is relatively rare.
