Symptoms After Quitting Smoking
Disease description:
I am 27 years old this year and have always had a nicotine addiction, but I have recently been trying to quit smoking. I would like to know about the symptoms after quitting smoking.
The symptoms after quitting smoking mainly include the following aspects:
1. Nervous system symptoms: such as insomnia, mood swings, anxiety, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and slowed thinking. These symptoms are primarily due to the sudden absence of nicotine's stimulating effects on the nervous system, causing the body to adapt to a new state.
2. Respiratory system symptoms: after quitting smoking, the irritation to the respiratory tract decreases and the cough reflex may gradually recover; therefore, coughing symptoms might temporarily worsen.
3. Digestive system symptoms: appetite might increase or decrease, and some individuals may experience constipation or diarrhea. These effects occur because the influence of chemicals in tobacco on appetite and the digestive system diminishes, and the body is adapting to a new lifestyle.
4. Other systemic symptoms: such as dizziness, fatigue, and excessive sleepiness. These symptoms may last for a period of time, but generally gradually subside as the duration of smoking cessation increases.
