What causes stomach pain at 38 weeks of pregnancy?
I'm 38 weeks pregnant, and I've been having stomach pain quite often, which feels quite abnormal. I'd like to know what might be causing stomach pain at 38 weeks of pregnancy?
Causes of abdominal pain at 38 weeks of pregnancy:
1. At this stage, the fetus has fully developed, and the significantly enlarged uterus may compress surrounding tissues, causing muscle fatigue or tissue ischemia, which can lead to pain.
2. During the process of fetal head descending into the pelvis, the pelvis may be compressed, potentially causing mild abdominal pain, known as lightening pain.
3. False labor contractions (Braxton Hicks contractions) are also a common cause; these contractions are usually irregular and mild, causing only slight lower abdominal discomfort or pressure.
4. If the abdominal pain is accompanied by prolonged, frequent, and regular contractions, it may indicate the onset of labor, and medical attention should be sought promptly in preparation for delivery.
5. Abdominal pain can also be caused by cold exposure to the abdomen, improper diet, or concurrent gastrointestinal diseases.
When experiencing abdominal pain, pregnant women should seek medical care promptly to identify the cause and take appropriate measures.
