What causes premature beats?
I have recently noticed that I have episodes of premature beats. I would like to ask the doctor: what causes premature beats?
Premature beats, also known as premature contractions, are manifestations of abnormal cardiac rhythm, usually occurring when a ventricle or atrium contracts earlier than expected. They can be caused by various factors:
1. Excessive fatigue: Overexertion can lead to premature beats, primarily due to prolonged physical activity causing abnormalities in the heart's conduction function.
2. Coronary artery disease: Coronary heart disease is a common type of heart disease, and patients may experience premature beats, chest pain, chest tightness, and angina after onset.
3. Anemia: An unbalanced diet over time can lead to iron deficiency and consequently anemia. Clinically, symptoms such as dizziness, headache, pallor, fatigue, and premature beats may occur.
4. Electrolyte imbalance: Imbalances of electrolytes such as potassium, magnesium, and calcium in the body can induce premature beats.
5. Medication effects: Certain medications, such as diuretics, stimulants, or some cardiovascular drugs, may also cause premature beats.
6. Others: Insufficient sleep, excessive fatigue, stress, and certain endocrine disorders, such as hyperthyroidism, may also lead to premature beats.
