What should I do if a flat wart itches?
Disease description:
I have developed flat warts on my neck, but they have become very itchy recently. I'm not sure what to do and would like to learn more about how to manage itchy flat warts.
When flat warts become itchy, the following measures can help relieve and treat the symptoms:
1. Keep the area clean: Wash the affected area with warm water and a mild soap solution to reduce bacterial infection and alleviate itching.
2. Avoid scratching: Try to avoid scratching the affected area to prevent spreading or worsening the infection.
3. Topical treatments: Apply anti-inflammatory and anti-itch creams, such as hydrocortisone cream or mometasone furoate cream. Additionally, lotions or gels containing antihistamine ingredients may also be used to relieve itching, but should be used under a doctor's guidance.
4. Cold compress: Wrap ice in a clean towel and gently apply it to the affected area for 5–10 minutes at a time to help relieve itching.
5. Antiviral therapy: Take oral or topical antiviral medications, such as acyclovir tablets or valacyclovir hydrochloride capsules, to reduce viral replication and thereby alleviate symptoms.
6. Seek medical attention: If itching persists or worsens, promptly consult a doctor to consider physical treatments such as laser therapy or cryotherapy.
