It's been about two weeks after intercourse, and my breasts have been slightly sore and tender. This situation feels really strange because I've never experienced anything like this before. I was wondering, could breast soreness and tenderness be a sign of pregnancy?

Breast tenderness is an early sign of pregnancy, especially around one to two weeks after conception. Hormonal changes, particularly increased levels of progesterone and estrogen, may cause the breasts to become sensitive, swollen, or tender.

Breast pain is not necessarily a definitive sign of pregnancy. Other factors such as hormonal fluctuations during the menstrual cycle, breast hyperplasia, mastitis, wearing ill-fitting bras, or stress can also cause similar symptoms.

If you have had sexual intercourse and experience breast tenderness along with other signs of pregnancy, such as delayed menstruation, nausea, vomiting, frequent urination, or darkening of the nipples, you may consider taking a pregnancy test to confirm. The most reliable methods include using a home urine pregnancy test strip or undergoing a blood progesterone test under a doctor's guidance. If the pain persists and causes discomfort, even in the absence of pregnancy, you should consult a doctor.
