Can vitiligo be treated with cortisone injections?
Disease description:
There are white spots on my skin, and I was diagnosed with vitiligo at the hospital. A friend recommended receiving closed needle injections. Can vitiligo be treated with closed needle injections?
It is not recommended for patients with vitiligo to receive local injections. These injections usually contain corticosteroid medications, such as Triamcinolone Acetonide Injection or Compound Betamethasone Injection. Although these drugs can help suppress inflammatory responses, promote melanogenesis, and dilate blood vessels, thereby providing some improvement in vitiligo symptoms, they also carry certain irritability and side effects. Given the complex nature of vitiligo and the fact that local injections are not a standard treatment for this condition, indiscriminate use may worsen the patient's condition and delay recovery. If corticosteroid treatment is necessary, patients should follow medical advice regarding appropriate dosage and frequency, and closely monitor any bodily changes. Additionally, vitiligo patients should practice proper sun protection in daily life to avoid UV exposure, which may cause the spread of depigmented patches.
