Possible causes of left lower abdominal pain
I suddenly experienced lower left abdominal pain this afternoon, which subsided after a while. I would like to know what might have caused this?

Left lower abdominal pain is a common symptom, and its possible causes include:
1. Urinary system diseases: such as left kidney stones, ureteral infection or inflammation, which are often accompanied by symptoms like frequent urination, urgency, and hematuria.
2. Digestive system diseases: including but not limited to colitis, diverticulitis (especially sigmoid diverticulitis), and appendicitis (although the appendix is usually located in the right lower abdomen, in rare cases of abnormal appendiceal positioning, pain may present in the left lower abdomen).
3. For female patients, gynecological conditions such as ectopic pregnancy and ovarian cyst torsion are also important causes that should not be overlooked.
4. Serious conditions such as colon tumors may also cause left lower abdominal pain, typically accompanied by abnormal bowel movements, such as melena or pus and blood in the stool.
5. Excessive fatigue and chronic gastritis may also lead to left lower abdominal pain, although these causes are relatively rare.
There are numerous possible causes of left lower abdominal pain; therefore, timely medical consultation is recommended. A detailed examination and diagnosis based on the patient's specific condition are necessary.
