What are the symptoms of stomach cramps?
I know my gastrointestinal system isn't in good condition; sometimes my stomach cramps, with spasms like contractions. I would like to know, what are the symptoms of stomach spasms?
Gastric spasm, which usually presents as sudden-onset upper abdominal pain, can manifest as cramping, stabbing, or intense constricting sensations. The main manifestations include:
1. Abdominal pain: The typical symptom of gastric spasm is sudden, severe abdominal pain usually located in the upper abdomen, which may present as cramping, stabbing, or knife-like pain. This pain may start abruptly, last from several minutes to hours, and intensify episodically.
2. Gastrointestinal symptoms: Patients often experience nausea, vomiting, acid reflux, and belching. The vomit typically consists of food contents, although in some cases it may contain blood.
3. Systemic symptoms: When the pain is severe, patients may develop pallor, cold sweats, cold extremities, and even lose consciousness. Some patients may also experience dizziness, fatigue, and chills.
4. Other symptoms: Gastric spasm may also cause bloating, indigestion, and changes in bowel habits (such as diarrhea or constipation).
If symptoms occur, prompt medical attention is recommended.
