How long one can live with liver disease mainly depends on the type of liver disease, the severity of the condition, and the effectiveness of treatment.

For mild hepatitis or fatty liver disease, most patients can return to normal life through active treatment and lifestyle adjustments, and their lifespan is generally not significantly affected. However, if the disease progresses to cirrhosis or liver cancer, the survival period may shorten, especially when complications arise.

A patient's physical condition, treatment methods, and individual circumstances can all influence the survival period. Patients with better physical condition may live longer, whereas those with poorer health may have a shorter survival period. The choice and effectiveness of treatment, as well as the patient's own recovery capacity, are also important factors affecting the survival period. If the patient is in the decompensated stage of cirrhosis, their survival period may be around five years; if liver cancer develops concurrently, the survival period may be only about one year. The 5-year survival rate for early-stage liver cancer is approximately 50%, for intermediate-stage liver cancer it is around 30%, and for advanced liver cancer, the survival period is generally less than 12 months.
