Foods to Help Relieve Cough and Phlegm in Infants
Recently, my baby has had a bit of a cough. I would like to ask, what foods can help relieve coughing, reduce phlegm, and nourish the lungs in babies?

For babies experiencing coughing with phlegm, the following foods are recommended to help relieve coughing, expel phlegm, and moisturize the lungs, thereby assisting treatment and alleviating symptoms.
1. Fruits:
Pears: Rich in various nutrients and minerals such as vitamin C, potassium, and fiber, pears have effects of clearing heat, moisturizing the lungs, stimulating the production of saliva, and quenching thirst. They can be peeled, cored, cut into pieces, and then steamed with an appropriate amount of rock sugar before being given to the baby.
Loquat: Contains rich nutrients and has functions of moisturizing the lungs, relieving cough, and removing phlegm.
Orange juice: High in vitamin C, which helps enhance immunity and alleviate sore throat and coughing. However, attention should be paid to its sugar content, and it should be consumed in moderation.
2. Vegetables:
Lily bulbs: Slightly cold in nature, they help clear heat, moisturize the lungs, resolve phlegm, and relieve cough.
Radish: White radish helps clear heat and toxins, resolve phlegm, and relieve cough. It can be sliced and boiled in water, then mixed with honey for flavoring. This is suitable for slightly older babies.
3. Other foods:
Honey: Has a positive effect in relieving cough and reducing mucus, but should not be given to infants under one year old due to the risk of botulism.
Chicken soup: Rich in collagen and other nutrients, it helps alleviate sore throat and coughing.
When using dietary therapy, the dosage should be adjusted according to the baby's specific condition and conducted under the guidance of a doctor. If the baby's symptoms persist or worsen, timely medical attention should be sought.
