What are the causes of unexplained thigh pain?
After getting chilled, the thigh suddenly starts to ache for no apparent reason. What is the cause of this?

Possible common causes of unexplained thigh pain:
1. Physiological factors: Muscle spasms caused by fatigue, cold, or other stimuli.
2. Muscle strain or overuse: This is one of the most common causes, especially among individuals who frequently engage in physical activities or exercise. Overuse, sudden increases in exercise intensity, or incorrect exercise techniques can lead to muscle or tendon injuries.
3. Nerve pain: Sciatica is a common type of neuropathic pain, which may be caused by compression of the sciatic nerve due to lumbar disc herniation or spinal stenosis. This type of pain typically extends from the lower back down to the thigh and even the calf.
4. Joint problems: Issues with the hip or knee joints can also cause thigh pain, such as hip arthritis, avascular necrosis of the femoral head, or knee arthritis.
5. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT): DVT is another possible cause, particularly after prolonged immobility or in individuals with a tendency to form blood clots. Besides pain, DVT may also present with swelling and changes in skin color.
If the pain persists, especially when accompanied by other symptoms such as swelling, redness, fever, or worsening at night, it is recommended to seek immediate medical evaluation at a hospital.
