Causes of yellow urine include the following:

1. Dehydration: This is one of the most common causes. When the body lacks water, the concentration of waste products in the urine increases, resulting in darker urine. Drinking more water usually resolves this issue.

2. Dietary factors: Certain foods such as beets, carrots, and specific vitamin supplements, especially B-complex vitamins, can also cause urine to appear yellow. These changes are typically temporary, and urine color usually returns to normal after modifying the diet or discontinuing the supplements.

3. Medication effects: Some medications, such as rifampin, sulfonamides, and anti-tuberculosis drugs, may cause urine to turn orange-yellow or dark yellow. If you are taking these medications, changes in urine color are typically normal side effects.

4. Liver and biliary system diseases: Conditions such as chronic hepatitis and cholangitis can lead to abnormal bile metabolism, causing bilirubin and urobilinogen to appear in the urine, resulting in yellow-colored urine.

5. Metabolic disorders: Conditions such as hyperuricemia or porphyria may also present with abnormal urine color.
