What are the surgical treatments for rhinitis?
I developed rhinitis when I was 15 years old and never paid much attention to it. When it flares up, I constantly sneeze. Now I want to address it and would like to know what types of rhinitis surgeries are available?

The type of rhinitis surgery is mainly determined by the type and severity of rhinitis. Common surgical procedures for rhinitis include the following:
1. Middle turbinectomy: This procedure is suitable for patients with hypertrophied or polypoid middle turbinates. Surgery can involve partial or complete removal, although preservation of the middle turbinate or partial resection is generally recommended whenever possible.
2. Inferior turbinectomy: This is performed for patients with inferior turbinate hypertrophy that affects respiratory function. Surgical options include partial inferior turbinectomy, submucous resection of the inferior turbinate, and lateral displacement of the inferior turbinate.
3. Polypectomy: Nasal polyps are non-cancerous growths within the nasal cavity that can cause symptoms such as nasal congestion and rhinorrhea. The procedure involves removing the polyps using endoscopic techniques to restore normal nasal anatomy.
4. Sinusotomy: This procedure is suitable for patients with chronic sinusitis, especially when medical treatment proves ineffective. Surgery involves enlarging the sinus openings, removing inflamed tissue, and improving sinus ventilation and drainage.
5. Vidian neurectomy: This procedure is indicated for patients with perennial allergic rhinitis who do not respond to anti-allergy medications. It offers the advantages of minimal invasiveness and mild postoperative reactions.
