A heart rate of 160 beats per minute during running may be normal for young people or individuals who exercise regularly, but it still needs to be evaluated according to individual circumstances. Heart rate during running is influenced by multiple factors, including age, health status, fitness level, and current physical condition.

Generally, the estimated maximum heart rate for healthy adults is calculated as 220 minus age. For example, a person who is 40 years old would have an estimated maximum heart rate of about 180 beats per minute. During high-intensity exercise such as running, reaching or approaching 70%-85% of the maximum heart rate is considered reasonable. An increased heart rate during exercise is a normal physiological response caused by activation of the sympathetic nervous system and elevated levels of hormones such as adrenaline.

For young people or those who exercise regularly, a heart rate reaching 160 beats per minute may also be normal. However, for older individuals or those with cardiovascular disease risk, a heart rate of 160 beats per minute may be considered high.

If heart rate remains persistently elevated and cannot be controlled, prompt medical attention is recommended.
