A diastolic blood pressure of 108 mmHg is not normal.

In assessing blood pressure, both systolic pressure (the upper number) and diastolic pressure (the lower number) are considered. The ideal blood pressure range for adults is a diastolic pressure of 60–80 mmHg. When diastolic pressure reaches or exceeds 90 mmHg, it can be diagnosed as hypertension. A diastolic pressure of 108 mmHg falls within the range of stage 2 hypertension (moderate), approaching stage 3 hypertension (severe).

If left untreated, hypertension can damage vital organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys, and may even be life-threatening. Hypertension is a common chronic condition, and if left uncontrolled over a long period, it may cause damage to important organs including the heart, blood vessels in the brain, and the kidneys.

When diastolic pressure reaches 108 mmHg, patients are advised to seek medical attention promptly to determine the underlying cause and to receive antihypertensive medication under a doctor's guidance. At the same time, lifestyle modifications such as a balanced diet, regular physical activity, smoking cessation, limiting alcohol consumption, and maintaining a healthy weight can help manage hypertension.
