Can coronary heart disease be completely cured?

Coronary heart disease (CHD), also known as coronary artery disease, is a type of myocardial ischemic disease caused by insufficient blood supply from the coronary arteries. CHD cannot be completely cured, but it can be managed and controlled through various treatment methods and lifestyle modifications to alleviate symptoms, improve quality of life, and prolong life expectancy as much as possible.

CHD is caused by atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries leading to narrowing or occlusion of the vascular lumen, which in turn causes myocardial ischemia, hypoxia, or necrosis. Its pathogenesis is associated with multiple factors, including heredity, age, gender, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hyperglycemia.

The treatment of CHD mainly involves medications, interventional therapies, and surgical bypass procedures. Medical treatment includes the use of antiplatelet agents, anticoagulant drugs, statins, and others to control disease progression and relieve symptoms. Interventional treatments, such as stent implantation, can rapidly open narrowed or blocked vessels and restore myocardial blood supply. Surgical bypass procedures are suitable for patients with extensive lesions and severe symptoms.
