Low blood pressure, or hypotension, is not necessarily treated through blood transfusion. The management of hypotension depends on its cause and severity.

If low blood pressure is caused by significant blood loss, anemia, hypoalbuminemia, or similar conditions, blood transfusion can effectively increase blood volume, red blood cell count, and plasma protein levels, thereby improving tissue perfusion and oxygen supply, and subsequently raising blood pressure. In such cases, blood transfusion can help the patient achieve blood pressure stabilization more quickly.

If low blood pressure is not caused by blood loss or anemia, but rather by other factors such as malnutrition, heart failure, or cardiomyopathy, blood transfusion will not address the underlying issue and may even worsen hypotensive symptoms and increase risks. In these situations, blood transfusion is not an appropriate option.

Whether blood transfusion is suitable for low blood pressure and whether it can rapidly improve the condition must be determined based on the patient's specific underlying cause and clinical presentation. For patients with low blood pressure, treatment is more commonly recommended through lifestyle modifications, improved nutritional intake, and appropriate medication use.
