Benefits of Sunbathing
Recently, the dog days of summer have arrived, and many people are spending time sunbathing. My mother also frequently sits in the yard to soak up the sun. I would like to ask, what are the benefits of sunbathing?

When exposed to sunlight, the ultraviolet B (UVB) rays in sunlight promote the synthesis of vitamin D in the skin, which helps prevent osteoporosis and rickets. Sunlight can also increase the body's serotonin levels, a neurotransmitter associated with mood regulation, thereby improving mood and reducing symptoms of depression.
Exposure to sunlight helps strengthen the immune system as ultraviolet rays can kill bacteria on the skin surface, reducing the risk of infections. Sunlight exposure accelerates the body's metabolic processes, helping the body utilize nutrients more efficiently and eliminate waste and toxins. Sunlight also regulates the body's biological clock and promotes the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that aids sleep.
Therefore, moderate sun exposure can improve sleep quality. It can also enhance skin health; although excessive exposure to sunlight can cause sunburn and premature aging of the skin, moderate sun exposure promotes the metabolism of skin cells and enhances skin elasticity and luster.
