How to remove scars left by hot water burns
Last month, I suffered a scald from boiling water, leaving a large scar. I would like to know how to remove scars caused by boiling water burns.
Scars left by hot water burns are formed during the skin's healing process, mainly due to excessive collagen deposition. To remove such scars, the following approaches should be considered:
1. Early management: In the initial stage of a burn, immediate cooling should be performed to reduce ongoing thermal damage to the skin. Subsequently, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving ointments, such as burn cream, should be applied to prevent infection and promote wound healing.
2. Physical therapy: This includes pressure therapy and laser treatment. Pressure therapy involves wearing specially designed pressure garments or using pressure patches to apply uniform pressure on the scar area, thereby inhibiting excessive collagen growth. Laser treatment precisely targets scar tissue, stimulating skin regeneration and improving the scar's color and texture.
3. Medication: During the early phase of scar formation, scar gels, compound sodium heparin allantoinate gel, or creams containing polysulfated glycosaminoglycans may be applied. These medications help promote regeneration of skin cells and accelerate scar fading.
4. Surgical treatment: Patients with severe or extensive scarring may require surgical excision for scar removal. After surgery, it is essential to follow the doctor's postoperative care instructions.
