Why is there hair growing on a mole?
There has always been a mole on the forehead, but recently I noticed that hair has started to grow from it. I would like to know why hair grows on moles.
Hair growth on a mole may be caused by the following factors:
1. Genetics: Hair growth on moles may be hereditary. If parents have this characteristic, their children are more likely to develop it as well.
2. Presence of hair follicles within the mole: Moles are benign skin tumors composed of melanocytes. Some moles may naturally contain hair follicles on their surface, leading to hair growth.
3. Hormonal changes: Elevated levels of androgens in the body may cause hair growth on the skin or on existing moles.
4. Pigmented moles and pigmentation disorders: Hair growth on moles may be associated with pigmented moles and accompanying pigmentation irregularities, possibly due to increased activity of pigment cells in the mole area.
If a mole undergoes noticeable changes in color, size, shape, borders, or surface features, or if it becomes painful, bleeds, or discharges fluid, these may be signs of malignant transformation, and immediate medical evaluation is recommended. Additionally, if the hair on the mole becomes unusually thick or the mole itself shows any unusual changes, a medical examination is also advised.
