Hyperthyroidism, also known as overactive thyroid, is a series of clinical symptoms caused by excessive secretion of thyroid hormones from the thyroid gland. The main clinical manifestations include:
1. Mainly high metabolic syndrome, nervous system abnormalities, cardiovascular symptoms, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Patients often experience heat intolerance, excessive sweating, moist skin, weight loss, increased appetite but weight reduction, and other symptoms.
2. Patients may exhibit significant mood swings, irritability, insomnia, and difficulty concentrating.
3. Palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmia, and even atrial fibrillation may occur.
4. Digestive symptoms include increased gastrointestinal motility, more frequent bowel movements, and often loose stools.
5. Hyperthyroidism may also cause goiter and exophthalmos (protruding eyes), as well as periodic paralysis or muscle weakness in the musculoskeletal system.
6. Female patients may also experience menstrual irregularities or even amenorrhea (absence of menstruation).
