How should perianal abscess be treated?
Recently, I have been experiencing significant discomfort around the anus, and after an examination, I was diagnosed with a perianal abscess. How should a perianal abscess be treated?

Perianal abscess is a common anorectal disease, with main symptoms including redness, swelling, heat, and pain around the anus. Treatments for perianal abscess include:
1. Incision and drainage: For most patients with perianal abscess, surgical treatment is the first choice. This involves making a radial incision at the site of maximum fluctuation of the abscess, draining the pus, and then packing the wound with Vaseline gauze for drainage.
2. Radical surgery: For high-position abscesses or recurrent abscesses, more complex procedures such as seton placement or fistulectomy may be required to achieve complete cure.
3. Medication: In the early stages, if the abscess has not yet formed or is small in size, antibiotics may be tried to control infection; anti-inflammatory drugs are used later to manage infection, and analgesics can help relieve pain.
4. Postoperative care: After surgery, it is important to keep the wound clean and change dressings regularly, avoid constipation and diarrhea, and promote wound healing. Additionally, attention should be paid to dietary regulation, including consumption of fiber-rich foods and avoidance of spicy and irritating foods.
5. Prevention: Strengthening personal hygiene, keeping the anal area clean and dry, avoiding prolonged sitting, and enhancing overall immunity can help prevent recurrence of perianal abscess.
If symptoms of perianal abscess occur, prompt medical attention is recommended.
