Disease description:

Recently, I haven't been feeling well, and my doctor prescribed enteric-coated aspirin tablets. However, I'm not quite sure when to take this medication for the best effect. Is it okay to take it on an empty stomach in the morning? When would be the optimal time to take it for better effectiveness?

Aspirin enteric-coated tablets are primarily used for the prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, such as heart attacks and strokes.

1. Preferred administration time: Half an hour to one hour before breakfast: During this period, there is relatively less food in the stomach, allowing the enteric-coated aspirin tablets to pass through the stomach and reach the intestines more quickly. Under fasting conditions, these tablets typically reach the intestines within half an hour to one hour. Once in the intestines, the medication begins to take effect, facilitating rapid absorption and better prevention of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

2. Alternative administration time: Before bedtime: By this time, several hours have passed since dinner, and the stomach is largely empty, which is similar to fasting conditions and also favors drug absorption.

Patients taking aspirin enteric-coated tablets long-term should undergo regular blood tests, including routine blood analysis and liver and kidney function tests, to monitor for adverse drug reactions. Additionally, the medication must never be split or crushed, as doing so would damage the enteric coating and significantly affect its efficacy.
