What to Eat for Excess Stomach Acid
My stomach has never been very good; sometimes I experience acid reflux and a churning sensation in my stomach. Doctor, I'd like to know, what should I eat if I have excess stomach acid?
Foods recommended for patients with excess stomach acid:
1. Alkaline foods
Vegetables: such as kelp, nori, lettuce, Chinese cabbage, rape, celery, lotus root, eggplant, pumpkin, etc. These foods are alkaline and can neutralize stomach acid and relieve stomach discomfort.
Fruits: Although some fruits like lemons and oranges are acidic in taste, they become alkaline after metabolism in the body, and moderate consumption is beneficial. Bananas and strawberries are also good choices.
2. Low-fat and low-sugar foods: Avoid high-fat and high-sugar foods, as they may stimulate increased secretion of stomach acid. Choose lean meats, fish, and other low-fat foods, as well as low-sugar or sugar-free beverages and foods.
3. Easily digestible foods: such as lotus root starch, rice broth, egg soup, steamed egg, millet porridge, and Chinese yam porridge. These foods are easy to digest and absorb, thus reducing the burden on the stomach.
4. Other recommendations: Try to avoid eating spicy, greasy, raw, or cold irritating foods, as well as stimulant beverages such as coffee and strong tea, to prevent worsening of symptoms associated with excess stomach acid.
If symptoms are severe or persist, seek medical attention promptly.
