What should not be eaten after surgery
I had an appendectomy and am now focusing on recovery. I would like to ask, what should I avoid eating after surgery?
Foods to avoid or limit after surgery:
1. High-fat foods: such as fried foods, fatty meats, etc. These foods are difficult to digest and may increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract, affecting postoperative recovery.
2. Spicy and irritating foods: such as chili peppers, mustard, etc. These foods may irritate the gastrointestinal tract, cause discomfort, and are especially detrimental to patients who have undergone oral, throat, or digestive tract surgery.
3. Caffeinated beverages: such as coffee, strong tea, etc. Caffeine has a diuretic effect and may lead to dehydration, affecting nutrient absorption and the recovery process.
4. Alcohol: Alcohol not only interferes with drug metabolism but also may impair wound healing and increase the risk of infection; it should be completely avoided.
5. Gas-producing foods: such as beans, onions, garlic, broccoli, etc. These foods can easily cause bloating and discomfort, which is unfavorable for abdominal recovery after surgery.
6. Hard and sticky foods: such as hard nuts, chewing gum, etc. These foods may cause injury to patients who have undergone oral, throat, or digestive tract surgery and may affect wound healing.
