Can taking calcium tablets help you grow taller?
Compared to children of the same age, my child is still relatively short. Will taking calcium tablets help increase height?

Calcium supplements only have an auxiliary effect on increasing height and cannot directly determine whether a person will grow taller.
Calcium is one of the fundamental elements that constitute bones and plays an important role in normal bone growth and maintaining bone density. Children and adolescents are in a period of growth and development, during which an appropriate amount of calcium supplementation can help promote healthy bone development and prevent diseases such as rickets. However, calcium supplementation alone cannot directly stimulate the secretion of growth hormone or alter genetic factors, so its direct impact on height is limited.
Calcium absorption and utilization require the combined action of other nutrients such as vitamin D. If the body lacks vitamin D, even a large intake of calcium cannot be effectively absorbed and utilized. Instead, it may cause calcium deposition, leading to problems such as kidney stones. Therefore, when supplementing calcium, it is important to ensure sufficient vitamin D intake to promote calcium absorption and utilization.
If the epiphyseal plates have not yet closed, appropriate calcium supplementation combined with other growth-promoting activities-such as a balanced diet, adequate sleep, and moderate exercise-may help increase height. However, if the epiphyseal plates have already closed, taking calcium supplements alone will not lead to any increase in height.
