Lumbosacral strain, commonly referred to as a "pulled muscle" or "strained back," typically involves acute injury to the lumbar muscles or ligaments, as well as sudden spasms of the respiratory muscles in the chest and abdomen. This condition is often caused by sudden twisting, bending over, or improper movements while lifting heavy objects.

Treatment options include the following:

1. Rest and immobilization: Patients should strictly rest in bed, minimize lumbar movement, and avoid actions such as bending or twisting the waist to prevent further injury.

2. Physical therapy: Within the first 24 hours after injury, cold compresses can be used to reduce swelling and pain; after 72 hours, heat therapy may be applied to promote blood circulation and recovery. Additionally, acupuncture, massage, and other physical therapies can help relieve muscle tension and facilitate healing.

3. Medication: If pain is significant, oral or topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen capsules or diclofenac sodium sustained-release capsules may be used to alleviate pain and inflammation. Muscle relaxants may also be prescribed to relieve muscle tension in the lower back.

4. Acupuncture or massage: These alternative therapies can sometimes help reduce pain and muscle tightness.

5. Maintaining proper posture: It is important to maintain correct sitting and standing postures in daily life and avoid staying in the same position for prolonged periods.
