Conjunctivitis, also known as acute conjunctivitis, is a common eye disease primarily characterized by redness of the eyes, increased secretions, foreign body sensation, burning sensation, and mild pain. The key to preventing conjunctivitis lies in interrupting transmission routes and eliminating sources of infection.

1. Interrupting transmission routes: Avoid visiting crowded and poorly ventilated places such as swimming pools and bathhouses. Maintain personal hygiene, especially hand hygiene, by frequently washing hands with soap, and avoid rubbing the eyes with dirty hands. Do not share items that come into contact with the eyes, such as eye drops and cosmetics, or personal hygiene items like towels and basins.

2. Eliminating sources of infection: If there is a family member suffering from infectious acute conjunctivitis, their personal items such as towels and basins should be disinfected by soaking in hot water for a short time and then placed under direct sunlight for drying. Implement proper isolation measures for the patient to prevent intra-family transmission.

3. Environmental hygiene: Keep indoor air well-ventilated and regularly clean the home environment, especially bedding and curtains, to reduce pathogen proliferation. For contact lens wearers, correct wearing and care procedures are necessary, along with regular lens replacement, to prevent conjunctivitis caused by lens contamination.
