Can coccyx pain heal on its own?
I slipped and fell on a rainy day, and there's now a slight pain in the area of the coccyx (tailbone). If left untreated, can tailbone pain heal on its own?

Coccydynia, mainly manifested as pain in the coccyx area. Causes of coccydynia include prolonged improper sitting posture, injury to the coccyx, pressure during childbirth, or diseases such as infections or tumors.
If the coccydynia is mild, it may resolve on its own.
1. Traumatic causes: such as coccyx fractures or dislocations caused by falls. Recovery usually takes longer, typically requiring 6-8 weeks or even more, and the pain will not subside until the fracture heals.
2. Overuse-related causes: such as myofasciitis or fat pad inflammation caused by prolonged sitting. With lifestyle adjustments, increased exercise, and physical therapy, it generally can heal naturally, although the recovery period may vary from several weeks to several months.
3. Disease-related causes: such as pain caused by compression of the coccygeal nerves due to lumbar disc herniation. The treatment plan depends on the severity of the condition, and the recovery time varies among individuals.
If the pain persists or worsens, it is recommended to seek medical examination immediately.
