Why does the tibial bone hurt?
I have been experiencing persistent pain in my tailbone recently, especially when sitting. The pain worsens with even slight movement. I'm wondering whether this could be caused by prolonged sitting. Now I'm even having slight difficulty walking. I would like to know what exactly causes tailbone pain?

Pain in the buttock bone area, medically referred to as coccydynia or pain in the coccygeal (tailbone) or sacral region, may be caused by various factors, including but not limited to the following:
1. Trauma: Injury to the sacrococcygeal area, such as from a fall or impact, may cause soft tissue or bone damage, leading to swelling, pain, and limited mobility.
2. Poor posture: Prolonged sitting in the same position, especially on hard seats, may exert pressure on the coccyx, causing pain.
3. Childbirth: During delivery, women may experience injury to the coccyx, resulting in postpartum sacrococcygeal pain.
4. Inflammation or infection: Inflammation or infection of tissues surrounding the coccyx can also cause pain.
5. Sacrococcygeal tumor: A tumor compressing surrounding tissues may cause a mass or significant pain in the sacrococcygeal region.
Mild coccygeal pain can be relieved by changing sitting posture, using specially designed cushions to reduce pressure, and applying heat compresses. If the pain persists or is accompanied by severe symptoms, it is recommended to seek medical examination immediately.
