Can orthopedic treatment cure lumbar disc herniation?
Recently, this herniated disc problem has been tormenting me quite a bit. My lower back is constantly painful, and sometimes my legs feel numb as well. I can't find a comfortable position, whether sitting or standing. I heard from someone that bone setting (orthopedic manipulation) might help treat this condition, but I'm not quite sure. I'd like to ask whether orthopedic manipulation can actually cure my herniated disc.

Lumbar disc herniation is a common spinal disorder, mainly manifested as low back pain, radiating pain in the lower limbs, and other symptoms. Orthopedic therapy aims to relieve symptoms and improve function by adjusting the biomechanical balance of the spine. Therefore, orthopedic therapy alone cannot directly cure the condition.
1. Mild or moderate lumbar disc herniation: Orthopedic therapy can effectively alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. It is particularly effective for low back pain caused by facet joint disorders.
2. Severe lumbar disc herniation: Especially in cases accompanied by cauda equina compression or severe neurological dysfunction, orthopedic therapy alone is unlikely to achieve a curative effect. In such cases, a comprehensive treatment approach combining medication, physical therapy, or even surgical intervention may be required.
