What are the common causes of frequent talking during sleep?
I have been talking in my sleep frequently at night this week. What are the common causes of sleep talking?

Causes of frequent talking in sleep:
1. Psychological factors: Prolonged mental stress, anxiety, depression, tension, or recent significant events or psychological trauma may cause the brain to remain active during sleep, leading to somniloquy (talking in sleep).
2. Physiological factors: Conditions such as obesity, thirst or hunger caused by short-term weight loss, or overeating before bedtime may affect sleep quality, keeping the brain in an excited state during sleep and resulting in talking in sleep.
3. Environmental factors: A poor sleep environment, such as disturbances from noise, light, or insects, may stimulate the body and increase nervous system excitability, making talking in sleep more likely.
4. Medications and dietary factors: Taking excitatory medications before bedtime, such as caffeine preparations or citicoline preparations, or consuming stimulating beverages like strong tea or coffee, may affect sleep quality and lead to talking in sleep.
5. Disease-related factors: Mental and psychological disorders such as neurasthenia, autonomic dysfunction, depression, and anxiety, as well as physiological conditions like calcium deficiency and sleep disorders, may all cause frequent talking in sleep.
If this occurs frequently, especially when accompanied by other sleep disturbances or affecting daily life, it is recommended to seek medical evaluation.
