How to treat facial muscle spasms
The lower part of my eye has been twitching occasionally these days, and I don't know why. Half of my face sometimes twitches as well, which seems quite unusual. I would like to ask about the treatment options for facial twitching.

The main treatments for facial muscle spasms include the following:
1. Medication: Oral antispasmodic drugs such as baclofen tablets and eperisone hydrochloride tablets may be taken regularly under a physician's guidance. These medications can reduce the excitability of the nervous system and alleviate twitching caused by excessive muscle contraction. Additionally, drugs such as carbamazepine and clonazepam may also be used to relieve symptoms of facial spasms, although attention should be paid to their potential side effects.
2. Physical therapy: For example, applying a warm, moist towel to the affected area for 5–10 minutes each session. Heat application can promote blood circulation and relieve local muscle tension and discomfort.
3. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM): Especially in cases where facial spasms are caused by exposure to cold or wind pathogens. Acupuncture treatment can be applied at facial acupoints such as Xiaguan (ST7), Dicang (ST4), and Jiache (ST6), combined with oral administration of Qianzheng Powder to dispel wind and improve circulation.
4. Surgical treatment: If the aforementioned treatments are ineffective and facial spasms severely affect daily life, surgical options such as microvascular decompression may be considered.
If facial spasms occur frequently or are accompanied by other symptoms, immediate medical attention is advised.
