What causes dizziness and nausea?
This morning, I woke up with persistent nausea in my stomach, dizziness, and a feeling of wanting to vomit. Drinking hot water did not provide much relief, and I have had a sour taste in my mouth. I would like to ask what might be causing the dizziness and the urge to vomit.
Dizziness and nausea are common symptoms, mainly caused by the following factors:
1. Brain diseases: such as cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction, which may lead to insufficient blood supply to the brain, causing dizziness and nausea. In addition, intracranial hypertension caused by craniocerebral trauma, intracranial tumors, or intracranial infections may also result in dizziness and nausea.
2. Peripheral vestibular vertigo: such as Ménière's disease, vestibular neuritis, and benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), which affect the vestibular receptors or vestibular nerves, causing symptoms of dizziness, nausea, and vomiting.
3. Gastrointestinal diseases: such as acute gastroenteritis, which may cause dizziness, nausea, and vomiting due to food irritation or infection.
4. Systemic diseases: such as hypertension, anemia, and hypoglycemia, which may cause dysfunction across multiple body systems, including the nervous and digestive systems, leading to dizziness and nausea.
5. Other factors: such as excessive fatigue, mental stress, sleep deprivation, drug side effects, and improper diet, which may also cause symptoms of dizziness and nausea.
If symptoms persist or worsen, timely medical attention is recommended.
