What to do in case of sleeping pill poisoning
Due to consistently poor sleep, I have been taking sleeping pills to help with sleep recently. However, I have been feeling unwell physically upon waking up in the mornings. I am worried about possible sleeping pill poisoning and would like to know how sleeping pill poisoning should be treated.
Management of Sleeping Pill Poisoning:
1. Seek immediate medical help: Call emergency services immediately and transport the patient to the hospital as soon as possible.
2. Maintain airway patency: If the patient is unconscious or experiencing difficulty breathing, gently place the patient in the recovery position (on their side) to prevent airway obstruction from vomit, and closely monitor their breathing.
3. Do not attempt to induce vomiting: Unless instructed by healthcare professionals, do not try to make the patient vomit, as this may cause further harm, such as aspiration pneumonia.
4. Collect and retain relevant items: Keep all medication packaging, bottles, and remaining drugs for identification of the drug components and dosage by medical personnel.
