How is fatty liver treated?
My son has remained underweight during his growth and development, and this year he was diagnosed with fatty liver disease accompanied by severe pain in the liver area, which worries me greatly. I would like to ask the doctor, how is fatty liver treated?

Basic treatment for fatty liver:
1. Healthy diet: Reduce intake of high-sugar and high-fat foods, increase the proportion of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats, and avoid excessive alcohol consumption.
2. Weight control: For overweight or obese patients, moderate weight loss can significantly improve fatty liver. A weight loss of 0.5-1 kg per month is generally recommended; rapid weight loss should be avoided to prevent metabolic disturbances.
3. Regular exercise: At least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity, such as brisk walking, swimming, or cycling, can help enhance metabolism and reduce fat accumulation.
4. Control of blood sugar and lipids: Patients with diabetes or hyperlipidemia should follow medical advice to control blood sugar and lipid levels, thereby reducing stress on the liver.
Currently, there are no specific medications that can completely cure fatty liver. Therefore, drug therapy should be conducted under a doctor's supervision, and medication should not be misused.
