The treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease mainly includes the following aspects:

1. Lifestyle modifications: Patients need to lose weight, avoid high-fat, spicy, and irritating foods such as coffee, strong tea, and chocolate, as these foods may reduce the pressure of the lower esophageal sphincter. Smoking and alcohol consumption should also be avoided, and sleep posture should be improved, such as elevating the head of the bed by 15–20°, to reduce nighttime reflux.

2. Medication therapy: This is the primary treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease. Commonly used medications include proton pump inhibitors and H2 receptor antagonists, which effectively suppress gastric acid secretion and relieve symptoms. Additionally, antacids can be used to rapidly neutralize stomach acid, and prokinetic agents can increase lower esophageal sphincter pressure and promote gastric emptying.

3. Surgical treatment: For patients who do not respond to medical therapy or have severe complications, surgical treatment such as Nissen fundoplication may be considered. This procedure strengthens the function of the lower esophageal sphincter through surgery to prevent acid reflux.

If symptoms persist or worsen, prompt medical attention is advised.
