Is it effective to drink Huoxiang Zhengqi Water for stomach bloating that has lasted for a month?
Recently, I have been experiencing poor digestion and constant stomach bloating. A friend recommended Huoxiang Zhengqi Water. Is it effective for stomach bloating if taken for one month?

Gastric distension is a common gastrointestinal symptom that can be caused by various factors, including but not limited to dietary habits, imbalance of intestinal flora, indigestion, or certain medical conditions. Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui, a traditional Chinese medicine preparation, mainly consists of ingredients such as Agastache rugosa (Huoxiang), Atractylodes lancea (Cangzhu), and Citrus reticulata (Chenpi). It functions to regulate qi and harmonize the middle jiao while also resolving dampness and relieving exterior symptoms. It may provide some relief for gastric distension caused by spleen and stomach weakness and dampness obstruction in the middle jiao.
If gastric distension is caused by gastric diseases such as chronic gastritis or gastric ulcer, Huoxiang Zhengqi Shui may not be effective. In such cases, treatment should target the specific underlying cause, for example, using acid-suppressive medications or drugs that enhance gastric motility.
Prior to using any medication, including Chinese patent medicines, one should consult a physician to avoid the risks associated with self-medication, especially for pregnant women, children, the elderly, and individuals with specific medical histories, who should exercise particular caution.
