Can I drink water infused with hawthorn and chrysanthemum for a stomach ulcer?
I really enjoy drinking water infused with hawthorn and chrysanthemum, but I recently developed a gastric ulcer. Can I still drink water infused with hawthorn and chrysanthemum when I have a gastric ulcer?

Patients with gastric ulcers can drink hawthorn and chrysanthemum infusion in moderation. Drinking hawthorn and chrysanthemum water can provide certain health benefits, such as promoting digestion and relieving internal heat.
Hawthorn is warm in nature, with a sweet and sour taste, and acts on the spleen and stomach meridians. It helps digestion, eliminates food stagnation, promotes qi circulation, and disperses blood stasis. It can enhance gastrointestinal motility and aid in relieving indigestion. Chrysanthemum is slightly cold in nature, with a sweet and bitter taste, and acts on the lung and liver meridians. It has functions of clearing heat, detoxifying, soothing the liver, and improving vision. Drinking chrysanthemum tea in moderation can relieve symptoms of excessive internal heat and may help alleviate dizziness and blurred vision caused by excessive liver fire. However, patients with gastric ulcers should not consume excessive hawthorn or drink hawthorn-infused water with high concentrations, to avoid irritating the gastric mucosa. Due to its cold nature, chrysanthemum should also be avoided by individuals with deficiency-cold syndromes of the spleen and stomach to prevent aggravating their condition.
Most people can safely consume hawthorn and chrysanthemum infusion. During periods of stable condition and ulcer healing, patients may drink hawthorn-chrysanthemum water in moderation, but must control the quantity consumed. However, during active ulcer phases or when experiencing significant gastrointestinal discomfort, it is not recommended. If any discomfort occurs, please seek medical attention promptly.
