Previously, I saw someone online mention that sphenoid ridge meningioma can cause orbital lesions. I would like to ask, how can we prevent it?

Sphenoid ridge meningioma is a tumor originating from the meninges. When it grows to affect the orbital region, it may cause a series of ocular symptoms, including vision loss, proptosis (bulging eyes), diplopia (double vision), and others. Therefore, the prevention of orbital involvement caused by sphenoid ridge meningioma is recommended through the following measures:

1. Regular physical examinations: Especially for individuals with a family history of meningiomas or related genetic disorders, regular head imaging examinations, such as MRI, should be performed to detect possible meningiomas at an early stage.

2. Pay attention to ocular abnormalities: Any sudden changes in vision, eye movement disorders, or persistent headaches may be signs of meningioma, and timely medical attention should be sought.

3. Avoid head trauma: Cranial trauma is a potential trigger for sphenoid ridge meningioma; therefore, it is important to prevent head injuries or seek prompt treatment when they occur.

4. Minimize long-term exposure to ionizing radiation environments. The frequency of radiological examinations, such as X-rays and CT scans, should be reduced as much as possible.

Although the exact cause of meningioma is not yet fully understood, maintaining a healthy lifestyle—including a balanced diet, moderate exercise, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption—is recommended to help reduce the risk of developing meningiomas.
