What causes perirenal pain?
I have been feeling pain around the kidney area while sleeping these days, and I don't know why. I would like to know what might be causing this?

Perirenal pain, typically referring to pain in the kidney area or nearby tissues, occurs in the deep region on both sides of the waist, adjacent to the spine. Perirenal pain may be caused by various factors:
1. Kidney stones: Kidney stones can cause severe pain around the kidney area when they move or obstruct the urinary tract.
2. Lumbar muscle strain: This is a common cause of renal area pain. Excessive stretching of the lumbar muscles due to heavy physical labor, prolonged bending, sitting for long periods, or trauma can lead to nerve compression, resulting in pain near the kidney area.
3. Renal cysts: Renal cysts are fluid-filled sacs that form within the kidneys. When the cysts enlarge and compress surrounding tissues, they can cause discomfort and pain around the kidney area.
4. Kidney tumors: Malignant kidney tumors or tumor-related conditions such as renal abscesses can cause pain in the area surrounding the kidneys.
5. Diseases of adjacent organs: Conditions such as intestinal disorders, pelvic inflammatory disease, and lumbar muscle strain may also cause referred pain to the kidney region.
If symptoms worsen or persist, prompt medical attention is advised.
