Influenza B virus is a relatively severe virus with extremely high contagiousness. It mainly spreads through droplets and person-to-person contact, easily causing outbreaks in populations. Infection may cause systemic symptoms such as fever, chills, fatigue, general muscle pain, cold sweats, and sensitivity to cold. In severe cases, high fever or persistent fever may develop, with body temperature reaching 39°C to 40°C or even higher.

Respiratory symptoms may include coughing, runny nose, nasal congestion, etc. When pneumonia occurs as a complication, symptoms may include severe coughing, sputum production, hemoptysis (coughing up blood), difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, and respiratory failure. Some patients may also experience nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, abdominal pain, diarrhea, although these are relatively uncommon.

For most healthy adults, although Influenza B can cause discomfort, it typically does not lead to severe complications, and patients can recover with appropriate rest and treatment. However, for high-risk groups such as infants, elderly individuals, pregnant women, and people with chronic diseases such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease, Influenza B may trigger more serious health issues like pneumonia and bronchitis, and may even lead to hospitalization or death.

If diagnosed with Influenza B virus infection, prompt medical attention should be sought.
