Abnormalities of the aortic valve are not definitively hereditary diseases, meaning they are not always determined by genetic factors. However, certain aortic valve abnormalities do have a genetic component, especially congenital valve malformations such as bicuspid valve deformities that lead to stenosis. Some aortic valve diseases, such as aortic stenosis or regurgitation, may be associated with familial inheritance, particularly when caused by specific gene mutations. In such cases, aortic valve abnormalities indeed demonstrate a hereditary tendency. However, aortic valve problems caused by factors such as infections, age-related degeneration, or complications from heart surgery are generally not hereditary. Therefore, patients with a family history are advised to undergo genetic counseling and related examinations to assess risks and implement preventive measures.

Although aortic valve abnormalities may carry some genetic risk, the overall risk is relatively low. Individuals with a family history are advised to undergo detailed consultation and examination before planning a pregnancy. For patients identified as having genetic risk factors, regular echocardiographic examinations are recommended to enable early detection of symptoms and timely treatment.
